In such an unkind world where meanness, teasing, and bullies are pretty much a childhood given, children need to know where their worth really comes from. This book is a great teaching tool for a topic that is sometimes hard to explain and that needs a lot of repetition for it to stick.

When Adeline finds a small and prickly porcupine named Grace on her doorstep, a lesson in God's grace begins. Zeeland's pampered pets, led by the haughty poodle, Penelope, poke fun at Adeline's quilled friend until Grace despairs, wishing she was pretty. Adeline reminds Grace that her beauty lies within--and compassion is a crown when Grace (who's been to Porcupine Scouts) resuscitates a drowning Penelope from her bone-shaped pool of vanity.
